Product Description
The RCA DRC629N features TWO individual eight-inch widescreen LCD displays, so two people can enjoy the same video while sitting in different seats of the car. A single cable connection (included) is all that is needed to connect the second screen. An additional bonus is two headphone jacks so both users can tune in to the full, rich sound of their favorite DVDs, CDs and mp3 discs without disturbing fellow travelers. The DRC6282 comes with an attachment that makes it simple to secure the dual screens to the back of the cars headrests. This keeps the screens from intruding on front-car space. Users can enjoy playback from virtually all DVD formats including DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW as well as CD/CD-R/-RW, mp3 CD-R, and mp3 compatible pre-recorded discs.

 Decent, but one MAJOR flaw June 23, 2009

We've had this unit for about a month now and have decided to sell it and get something else. While the unit has lots of pros (I'll list below) it has one fatal flaw. That flaw is that each time the units lose power, the DVD starts over at the beginning, there is no memory of the last point played. For us this makes the unit nearly useless. Take a trip and stop for lunch, the DVD restarts; stop to pump gas, the dvd restarts; take a bathroom break, the DVD restarts. Ugh.

br /1) Ability to view same DVD or two different ones is great
br /2) Easy to set-up, headrest mount works pretty well
br /3) Picture quality is decent
br /4) Sound is good
br /5) Single power outlet needed to power both

br /Negatives:
br /1) No possiblity to connect a battery
br /2) Restart mentioned above
br /3) No built in IR or FM headphone capability

We purchased this from Target for our second car, we had our first one about a month and the DVDs simply stopped loading. We went back and exchanged it for a second one (thank goodness for the 90-day exchange policy). Now, less than 2 months later our second one has the EXACT same problem...it does not load DVDs. I purchased this because I believed RCA to be a good name brand and a good product, however I have been sorely disappointed.
br /Avoid this product at all coats or make sure you have an extended warranty when you buy it as IT WILL BREAK!!!!

Bought it for a 5 hour trip. It randomly stopped reading the DVDs. Had to exchange brand new DVD and that didn't fix the problem. That is what you get from this cheap brand. Returned it.

We purchased this DVD System for our 21 hour trip to California, it lasted for the entire trip out, but not really to go back home anymore.
br /The System simply quit working and my children had to hold the main unit in their laps, at an angle for it to "sometimes" work. We then exchanged it for a new model since we had lost the receipt in all the commotion of our trip. The new one did the exact same thing after only using it for one day.
br /I contacted RCA in the hope of receiving my money back, and am hoping now to get a positive answer from them.
br /This is very frustrating as we have an overhead unit in our Chrysler, which in fact, also stopped working....

Disapointed in RCA August 16, 2010
on the road
We purchased this dvd player and installed it while our car was parked in a relative's driveway and this is where we should have had our grandchild sit to watch the movie. Unfortunately, we were 5 hours from home in Iowa and we needed to get back to our house. As soon as we pulled out onto the street to head home the dvd player stopped working. We installed a new dvd and again after a few minutes the dvd player stopped working again. It seem that every time we would hit a minor bump in the road (on hard surface pavement including the I-88 and I-80 interstate system) the dvd player would stop working and we would have to restart the dvd from the beginning(it never resumed from where it left off). Fortunately for us, our grandchild is only 15 months old and he didn't notice that we had to keep re-starting the dvd and he was watching the same beginning over and over again for miles. After making sure that the cables, straps, etc. were totally secure and tight, we stopped at a store and bought a new dvd even though the ones we had were only four years old. Again, same results, the dvd player stopped reading the dvd whenever we hit a minor bump in the road. I guess this unit only works if the car is standing still so needless to say we had a very long trip home. RCA used to stand for quality but I guess those days are long past. Please do not buy this dvd player as it is totally useless.
